- On the AEF: Saclay: the leaders of the 5 NewUni member schools present their project, which they want to be "maneuverable" and "responsive". (Subscriber readable dispatch, December 15, 2017)
- Speech by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron in Paris-Saclay October 25, 2017
Télécom ParisTech is committed alongside Polytechnique, Ensae, Ensta and Télécom SudParis in the "NewUni" project in Saclay.
The end of 2017 was marked by the affirmation of the new project "NewUni" in Saclay by five school principals: Télécom ParisTech has thus made a commitment alongside the École polytechnique, ENSTA ParisTech, ENSAE ParisTech and Télécom SudParis to create "a university of science and technology in the international sense of the term, based on application-oriented research, itself supported by high-level fundamental research, and training based on this application-oriented research, while focusing on what makes up the DNA of the schools and the professional integration of our students".
Their aim is to deliver L,M,D level diplomas in areas of expertise such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital, etc., and under a brand that will be defined in 2018, "NewUni" being only a temporary name to date.
"After five years of working together within the Comue Paris-Saclay, we have been able to verify how little manoeuvrability it was. By being more modest in size, we are going to gain in agility", they explain.
During his speech at CentraleSupelec on October 25, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his desire to see this cluster "evolve towards a French-style MIT or EPFL". This large-scale project does not call into question the relocation of the School, which will then be as close as possible to its "NewUni" partners.
