Solvay and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation seal a three-year partnership to accelerate the transition to a circular economy

Start
Solvay and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation signed a three-year global partnership on January 17, offering the Group a unique opportunity to accelerate the contribution of chemistry to the transition to a circular economy.

The partnership will explore solutions consistent with the principles of the circular economy, in contrast to the current linear economic model: extract, manufacture and discard.
"The circular economy is becoming increasingly important both for our business and for our customers, who expect us to provide solutions that enable them to meet their sustainable development challenges. Joining the Ellen MacArthur Foundation alongside world-renowned players will enable us to develop our knowledge and research for a faster transition to the circular economy. adds Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, CEO of Solvay.
"We are pleased to welcome Solvay as a global partner of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. At the heart of the global economy, the chemical industry has an important role to play in fostering a global movement towards a restorative and regenerative circular economy.says Ellen MacArthur.

Solvay joins the Foundation's eight global partners - Danone, Google, H&M, Intesa Sanpaolo, NIKE, Inc, Philips, Renault and Unilever - as the sole global partner for the chemicals sector from 2018 to 2020.

Since British yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur established the Foundation in 2010, the charity has emerged as a leader in putting the need to accelerate the transition to a circular economy on the agenda of global decision-makers in business, government and academia.
