Hyperloop Transportation Technologies signs an agreement for a commercial line in Ukraine and announces that it will work with the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure to plan the first European commercial line, while developing the legal and regulatory framework for the country.
Hyperloop Transportation Technologies announced on Thursday June 14 the signing of an agreement with the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure to begin the planning process for a commercial Hyperloop line. This agreement was signed in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, in accordance with the National Transport Strategy for 2030 defined by the Ukraine.
In February 2018, Ukraine's Minister of Transport, Volodymyr Omelyan, announced that the country would begin to lay the foundations for Hyperloop technology; along with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the national defence conglomerate Ukroboronprom, the aircraft manufacturer Yuzhmash, and several other industrial and scientific institutions.
HyperloopTT will work directly with the Ukrainian Ministry of Transport to begin planning the construction of the first Hyperloop commercial line, which will be done in stages. The first phase will consist of the construction of a 10km track, which will be used to create the legal framework for the certification of the system, before being expanded into a wider Hyperloop network. It is planned that the project will be financed as a public-private partnership after completion of the initial study.
"We have developed a plan to bring Ukrainian infrastructure into the 21st century, said Volodymyr Omelyan, Ukraine's Minister of Infrastructure. "Hyperloop is an essential element in achieving our goal of creating intelligent and sustainable transportation infrastructure. We are delighted that HyperloopTT is joining us in this endeavour, and we welcome the signing of this agreement. »
"This year, we launched the commercialization of our technology, with a focus on regulatory development. Indeed, this is the main hurdle we still have to overcome before we can introduce this new mode of transportation to the world, announced Dirk Ahlborn, CEO of HyperloopTT. "These first business lines will allow us to create the necessary legal framework, which may inspire other countries around the world. »
"We announced our first trade agreement in Abu Dhabi in April, and we are delighted to add Ukraine to our growing list of senior partners, said Bibop Gresta, President of HyperloopTT. "Ukraine is at the crossroads of the new Silk Road, and Hyperloop will certainly play a key role in connecting Europe to Asia. »
