Amazon Launches Music Storage and Listening Service in France

Amazon Cloud Player allows you to stream your music library from any connected device, computer, smartphone or tablet.

Competing with iTunes Match in France, the American e-merchant has just announced the launch of its music streaming service, Cloud Playerin France. In concrete terms, users of the service will be able to access all their music stored online, from any device connected to the Internet: computers, smartphones or tablets.

In its free version, the Cloud Player service allows you to store online up to 250 songs as well as MP3 titles purchased on Amazon, without limitation. A flat fee of €24.99 per year extends the storage limit to 250,000 files.

How does it work? You need to use or create an Amazon account to connect and have a Wi-Fi connection. The login and password will also be used to connect to the (free) Cloud Player application. Then, the stored music can be accessed from any Wi-Fi connected device. This application obviously gives access to classic functionalities such as creating playlists or directly sending music purchased on the Cloud.

Amazon Cloud Player offers a slightly different approach to traditional streaming sites like Deezer or Spotify. On these sites, the user pays a subscription fee to access the entire music library of the site, which can be accessed from anywhere. These sites obviously offer the possibility to create playlists. Amazon Cloud Player may be of more interest to Internet users who already own a rich music library or are used to buying from Amazon.
