Photographing is taking the floor again: birth of Éditions Witch, Mémoires Funambules

Start

Maud Fée, a committed communicator and passionate photographer, creates the Editions Witch, Mémoires Funambules. Her objective is both aesthetic and political: Witch, Mémoires Funambules wishes to encourage individuals to look again, here and now, at the strength of contemporary beings and phenomena. To achieve this, it offers beautiful, aesthetic and powerful books, faithful to the issues they raise. Witch, Mémoires Funambules publishes today his first book : Migrationby Francesca Di Bonito.

The home page of the site of this new publishing house sets the tone: "The image is everywhere, but the gaze has disappeared". It is blurred by the urgency of everyday life. Conditioned by the swelling of the spectacular. Smoothed by Instagram filters.
Re-examining, here and now, the aesthetic and political force of beings and phenomena: this is the vocation of "Witch, Mémoires Funambules" and the authors and photographers with whom they are committed.

In order to achieve this, the Editions favours art-enquiry. An embedded, subversive approach, which aims to give thanks to the vulnerable and the current. Francesca Di Bonito and the Migrationor Maud Fée with the Passer-Elles project in particular. The company publishes beautiful books, sensitive and powerful, faithful to the issues they raise.

Migration is their first work that presents itself as an artistic experience. The Italian-born visual photographer studies all the phenomena of displacement and transformation of the living. In doing so, she invites us to question the profound meaning of the word "migrations".

Photography is about speaking out again.

The images proposed in Migration revolve around non-hierarchical elements, such as accidents that interfere between the biological and political worlds. Francesca Di Bonito's experience of photojournalism and her voluntary and militant detachment give power, audacity and authenticity to her work.

By signing all Editions Witch's books, Mémoires Funambules with the force of a single sentence with aphoristic value as a back cover, Maud Fée takes the gamble to make us stop on the role of photography in our moments of life.

"Photography is about keeping the spark of eternity buried in the present."

It's the birth certificate of the Witch House, Funambulist Memories. Migration is a French 23×32 format book, 79 pages, printed on white offset paper Lys Galilée 140 grams four-colour process. The choice of an innovative matt grained lamination invites a singular experience to the touch.
The book is offered at the price of 39 euros. It is available over the counter at Le Délit - Librairie Justicia LDEL (1), as well as at The Comet (2).
You can also discover it on the website of Éditions Witch, Mémoires Funambules

Francesca Di Bonito will be signing at Fotofever at the Carrousel du Louvre (Paris) from 8 to 10 November 2019.

"I am happy to be able to give the floor to artists who invite political reflection through the prism of beauty. Those who question hidden subjects, overturning notions of time, space and our relationship to truth.
