Call for projects for the Doctoral Fellowship of the B2V Observatory of Dissertations

Start

For the 3rd consecutive year, the B2V Memory Observatory calls on young researchers to deepen the understanding of memory in all its forms, by awarding a doctoral grant of €35,000 per year, over 3 years.

Engaged in support of scientific research and to deepen the understanding of memory and means of prevention, the B2V Memory Observatory has set up, for the start of the 2015 academic year, an annual grant of €35,000 per year for a period of 3 years, i.e. €105,000. The latter is awarded to only one candidate, having passed all the stages of the selection process.

The B2V Dissertation grant is paid to the managing body of the winner's research laboratory in order to finance his or her thesis. This scholarship concerns all doctoral programs focusing on transdisciplinary themes of memory.

The importance of memory...

The etymology of memory is derived from the Latin term memoria, "ability to remember", and the plural memoriae, meaning a "collection of memories".

In this sense, memory is in this sense, both individual and collective, making it possible to bring together, in images and in almost real colours, the subject's experiences, be they individual or collective. We can have a common memory of the early '70s, for example, while each has a precise and individual memory. We then speak of collective memory and individual memory. Corporate memory is also an obvious component of this relationship between individual and collective memory.
Memory is necessary for learning, knowledge acquisition and performance of the individual. In addition, the activation of memory circuits uses the same neurons as perception and understanding.
It influences our behaviours: in the face of stress, appetite for certain foods or reactions to emotions. It has links with sleep, which is an important part of its fixation. It tends to become distant during our lives, subject to the factors of aging, sometimes even to pathology and thus jeopardizing our autonomy. It can also fail due to fear or inhibition and reappear.

The 2015 theme of the call for projects

To be a candidate, young researchers must propose a research topic that respects the theme favoured by the jury members: "The dynamics of memory" and highlight the transdisciplinary aspects related to it.

Conditions of Application

In order to apply, the candidate must be :
- Holder of a Master 2 in research or in the process of validation.
- Attached, as part of his PhD registration, to a French laboratory
- Students already enrolled in a thesis will not be accepted.

Calendar

- Applications will be accepted until May 12, 2015 at midnight.
- The hearing of the successful candidates will take place on 10 July 2015.
