"Ecological Thinking - An Anthology." by Dominique BOURG and Augustin Fragnière - Editions PUF - 1088 pages - January 2014
This book aims to make known the richness and evolution of ecological thinking, that is to say of this current of thought which, based on a scientifically substantiated observation of the planet's limits, makes proposals for reorganizing society, thought and ethics.
The book is in two parts: the first, historical, traces the advent and evolution of awareness and knowledge of environmental problems; the second, thematic, explores a dozen themes such as "growth/decline", "rights of nature/duties of man", "Christianity and ecology", "climate justice", "conservationism/preservationism", etc. The book is divided into two parts. This book contains about a hundred selected excerpts from the founding texts, both from the awareness of environmental problems and from the structuring of this field of thought.
It also includes historical and then thematic introductions to the various sections rich in information, constituting a cartography of each major theme addressed. Each text is also preceded by a biographical note containing information that is sometimes little known or inaccessible.
