The digital age, a new age of humanity: Five changes that will change our lives from Gilles Babinet - Edition Le Passeur, January 2014
No ur world is heading for disaster? Has innovation broken down to the point where we cannot find the solutions to extricate ourselves from a crisis such as France and the Western world have not experienced since the Second World War?
History teaches us, however, that periods of crisis often preceded periods of strong economic growth and social progress. Thus, the advent of a new knowledge-based economy has begun to have a more profound and lasting impact on society than the industrial revolution.
Gilles Babinet demonstrates that we are, although at the height of the crisis, at the dawn of an unprecedented innovation revolution, a major paradigm shift for humanity. He identifies five areas whose ongoing evolution, intrinsically linked to digital technology, will change our entire lives: knowledge, education, health, production and the State.
For each of them, it explains what is at stake in the changes and clarifies their contours, inviting us to rediscover faith in innovation and reason, our best chances of rebounding - and perhaps of salvation.
Gilles Babinet, a digital entrepreneur, has created numerous companies in various sectors. From 2011 to 2012, he was the first president of the National Digital Council. In June 2012, he was named "Digital Champion" and represents France at the European Commission on digital issues. He is notably the author of Pour un New Deal numérique (Institut Montaigne, 2013).
