The Alternatiba wave is growing

Start

Bayonne in October 2014, Agen, Gonesse, Nantes, Paris, Lille, Ciboure-Socoa and Bordeaux in September and October 2014: 62,000 people have already visited the Villages of Alternatives to Climate Change. Alternatiba ». Nearly 1700 volunteers participated in the preparation and implementation of these first 8 Alternatiba to which we must add the thousands of exhibitors, speakers, artists who have animated them..

Between ten and twenty thousand people attended their conferences and round tables on climate change, on COP21, on false solutions, on alternatives and approaches to social and ecological transition to "build a better world by taking up the climate challenge" as summarized by Stéphane Hessel, who had agreed to sponsor this Alternatiba process.

Already 46 Alternatiba in total!

Alternatiba allows citizens to gain confidence in their collective capacity to change things, to participate here and now in the transitions necessary to transform our modes of production, consumption, transportation, land use planning, etc. In short, to change the system so that the climate does not change.
The Alternatiba wave is therefore growing and will continue throughout 2015, contributing to the rise of citizen mobilization in the run-up to COP21, the important UN climate summit to be held in Paris at the end of 2015. 38 other Alternatiba are already being prepared in France, but also in several European countries. Almost every week, a new Alternatiba is added to this list.

European Coordination of Alternatiba in Lille

The 4th European Coordination of Alternatiba met in Lille on Saturday 25 October 2014. It analysed the first feedback, set up training sessions, worked on a massive promotion of alternatives that everyone can strengthen at their own level, and debated strategies for citizen mobilisation in the face of COP21.
It has also worked on a major communication and citizen mobilization campaign on climate and ecological and social alternatives, which will be launched on December 3, 2014 and will last 2 months.

Now is the time to act!

The European Coordination of Alternatiba calls on the population, and in particular on the younger generations, to reinforce this massive dynamics of Alternatiba aiming at triggering without further delay the social and ecological transition, the only one capable of preventing climate chaos.

On 17 November, Alternatiba is organising a meeting to present the project to launch the Yvelines Centre and to involve a maximum of local actors.
This meeting is open to all those who wish to take part in the preparation of the event, run a stand or provide entertainment on that day. The fight against climate change does not belong to us and VYT is only the trigger of this Alternatiba which must gather very widely all the people, associations and professionals concerned.
