Here is the first chef social network: chefbychef.com. The idea: Chefs put themselves on stage and recommend their fellow chefs. And who better than a chef to recommend a restaurant to you?
Chefbychef.com is a new answer to finding a restaurant! Today, there are a number of sites, guides, blogs, etc. that recommend gourmet addresses but it's not easy to find your way around and many are "sponsored"!
If you do Google in France for a restaurant, you have 95% chances to fall on the recommendations of "La Fourchette" and if the site is well referenced, its addresses at smart prices are disappointing (nothing on the plate, no taste, welcome / no welcome in my opinion).
You also have the guides, in their classic format or on the net. Many work with a rating system, stars or points unsuitable for finding customers.
On the websites you will find reviews from internet users who can rate and comment on the restaurants. But what about the comments: are they really objective since some agencies pretend to be fake customers?! Finally, there are the blogs; but here again, you have to know the best culinary blogs in France and around the world!
This is where Chefbychef.com a newcomer on the market with a chef's eye! The idea is to put chefs at the centre of opinions and to make restaurant recommendations on the web more "real". No stars, no opinions and no pompous comments, just chefs recommending their favourite colleagues from all over the world.
A two-tier social network
You're a chef, why participate? Chefbychef.com allows chefs to free themselves from distinctions, opinions and comments of all kinds. Chiefs can recommend their colleagues but also be recommended. Chefbychef.com is indeed the Facebook of chefs. Everyone has their own profile, with the number of recommendations given and received, the names of the restaurants they own, their background, their exchanges and their news.
The interest for us Internet users? Gastronome friends, you will be able to discover the tables of your favourite chefs and get to know a restaurant through its chef and its history. The site already has Guillaume Gomez, Mathieu Viannay and Stéphane Raimbault. Would you like to try this new site? It will be open to Internet users from January 2013, but you can already register to be alerted as soon as it opens.
A smart site that follows you everywhere
The site chefbychef.com is entirely developed as a "Responsive" system that allows websites to adapt to different types of browsing media. So no downloading, the site adapts to your mobile, tablet, television, browser, etc... The content does not change, but the design is modified (weight, size, definitions) to meet the requirements of different readers.
Simple therefore and as for many great chefs, the simplest recipes (sublimating a product) are often the best; it is possible that this site will simply become the best online restaurant search site. But let's wait for the next step (testing) by getting back into the swing of things in early 2013.
