EESC

Fireworks of ideas at the EESC

Start

The Economic, Social and Environmental Council (EESC) launched the Future CongressThe EESC is to hold an event at the EESC on the symbolic occasion of 14 July to map out all the groups and media involved in citizens' projects with a constructive and alternative vision of the future. The Council thus wished to pay tribute to today's heroes, to the active forces fighting in their associations, towns and businesses to reinvent France. UP' Magazine was among the happy actors selected!

Celebrating "positive revolutionaries"...

In a context of a society that is breaking away from its traditional landmarks, thanks in particular to the digital and energy revolution, the EESC was keen to highlight these "positive revolutionaries" who are fighting for our future, a future that they think and prefigure with enthusiasm.
Organised by the EESC with theThe Institute for Wishful Futures and the support of MAIF, the evening brought together 150 collectives with a positive, alternative and inclusive vision of the future, driven by a taste for collective adventure and an entrepreneurial spirit, a France that is creative, combative, innovative, enthusiastic and fully projected towards its future.

All the collectives, organisations and media present are listed on the dedicated website congresdufutur.org created especially for the occasion. It is also on this site that the 12 concrete ideas for "unlocking France" that emerged during the collective intelligence group workshops, the highlights of the evening, will be listed in the coming days.

The Congress of the Future proposes a cartography of emergences, multiple germinations of a France that is growing, optimistic, strong of actors of audacious change, who each in their territories of reinvention show that tomorrow is already here.

As a historic forum for dialogue, committed to reconciling economic, social and environmental performance, the EESC is there to play its part. By bringing together these different networks during this collaborative evening, it invited them to express their views on their perception of a France that can switch from "every man for himself" to "every man for everyone".

The Congress of the Future follows on from the EESC's actions with events such as the Climate Awareness Summit, Le Printemps de l'Optimism at the EESC, Les forces vives au féminin, La France des solutions and the annual "Vivre ensemble" forums, dedicated to initiatives taken by French society to spread the desire to act positively.

"This evening was able to echo the very great vitality of citizen initiatives in France, which contrasts with the atrophy of political parties and the prevailing pessimism. We need to regain the enthusiasm of the future." stressed EESC President Jean-Paul Delevoye.

So what ?

As a reminder, the EESC is the third assembly of the Republic (233 members) whose mission is to advise the government through its opinions. Its role is also to promote "citizens' petitions", a power granted to it in 2008.
The EESC and France Stratégie have organised an online citizens' consultation, open to all, in June 2015, dedicated to additional PI indicatorsB to change public action. Awaiting results...

For l'heure, let's be positive: let's hope that this beautiful evening of July 14th was more contributory than consultative!
