Laval Virtual and Strate School of Design signed a framework agreement on Tuesday, March 22nd on the occasion of Laval Virtual 2017. This agreement aims to articulate over the long term the visions, strategies, projects and actions of the two partners in the field of immersive technologies and their diffusion.
Ps a world-renowned leader in the field, bringing together all the players in the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality sector, Laval Virtual has clearly identified design as a lever for the development and transfer of the technologies produced within it. By joining forces with Strate Ecole de Design, Laval Virtual confirms this desire to associate design with its development strategy and to participate in the rooting of design in the territory.
For its part, through this framework agreement, Strate Ecole de Design confirms its vision of a 21st century design nourished by digital, robotics and immersive experiences to which design must give meaning. The school also confirms here its will to be a dynamic player in the Laval Virtual Center, of which Laval Virtual is the key partner.
This three-year agreement, with a steering committee that meets twice a year, will make it possible to collaborate in the development of the curriculum. "Immersive Design"which trains designers of immersive experiences, through Master Classes, projects and workshops on the Laval sites.
But also to develop new pedagogical formats with local academic actors such as ENSAM, ESIEA or ESTACA (Double-diploma, collaborative projects), to develop professional and continuing education in Laval on design, design thinking, creativity and Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality, for companies in the Laval Virtual ecosystem, co-branded LV University and Strate, using the resources of the Laval Virtual Center, but also to develop entrepreneurship around immersive technologies by associating a team of designers in residence for 6 months in Laval. Finally, to promote the marriage between Design and Immersive Experiences in a more general way, especially during the "LV Days".
This agreement also formalizes the existing partnership around the Design & Sciences Prize Paris-Saclay University. Indeed, Laval Virtual is one of the partners of the Design & Science University Paris Saclay Prize, alongside Universcience, the Laboratory and the company Inprocess, and which brings together students from Strate, Centrale Supelec, Polytechnique and ENS Paris Saclay.
As such, Laval Virtual will award a prize to one of the projects that will benefit from an exhibition during the professional week, on a dedicated stand. In addition, Laval Virtual offers the exhibition of all the other Design & Science projects during the general public weekend on other dedicated stands.

About Laval Virtual
Created in 1999 at the instigation of the former Minister of Research and Mayor of Laval, François d'Aubert, Laval Virtual brings together a large number of Virtual Reality players, ranging from teaching and research to businesses and the general public, in a single location.
Since its first edition in June 1999, Laval Virtual has been a great success. More than 8,000 participants, extensive media coverage and strong participation from Japanese universities propelled Laval to the high-tech world4.
Over the years, the International Meetings of Virtual Reality have become the International Meetings of Virtual Technologies and Uses, no longer representing only Virtual Reality as a whole but also Augmented Reality, interactive 3D, Robotics, the Internet of Things and all Innovative and Converging Technologies.
Thanks to a strong growth of 20 % exhibitors in 2013, Laval Virtual expanded in 2014: an extension of 1,000 m² was thus added, of which 300 m² was dedicated to the exhibition7. In 2016, the total exhibition area will reach 5,500m², a growth that goes hand in hand with the strong emerging demand from potential users.
Laval Virtual's success continues with the emergence of a new project in Laval: the Laval Virtual Center, which will be launched in 2017.
