What is the major challenge for companies in terms of competitiveness?

Competitiveness today is a matter of perimeter. Companies are becoming part of a globalized world, customs barriers are fading and competition is becoming fierce. It is imperative to offer a competitive advantage in order to survive, and this requirement applies to everyone, from very small businesses to CAC 40 companies and SMEs. There are two ways to gain a competitive advantage:

- Competitive advantage through costs: Gaining a competitive advantage means optimizing costs. If the cost of raw materials rises, the full cost will rise; the same applies to labour costs. There are therefore costs whose reduction does not depend directly on the contractor. Reducing the overall cost means producing better and more efficiently. It is necessary to process, orchestrate, measure and optimize one's organization.

- Competitive advantage through innovation: in an ever-changing competitive environment, innovation is the key to ensuring a strong competitive advantage by putting the competition "out of the race", through a unique offer or a more efficient production process.

What solutions are available to companies to innovate?

Innovation can consist of :

1. Sit under the tree and wait for the apple to fall (random).

2. Innovate through organized brainstorming, with employees with different and varied skills around a goal. Each person brings his or her own brick and vision to create a new idea that the individual alone could not have had.

Solutions exist, particularly in the field of collaborative intelligence. They must be aimed at the competitiveness of companies by acting on the two levers that are the optimization of organizations and innovation. They must also take advantage of Cloud technologies (SaaS) to adapt to the agility needs of companies.

In addition, a collaborative intelligence solution must strive to ensure that all of the company's applications can be piloted, managed or completed by the solution, thus breaking down the sillos between the different departments of the company. Thus, these solutions must optimize the capacity that business operators will have to monopolize the solution without the need for IT intervention (IBPMS logic).

The challenge for collaborative solutions on the market today therefore lies in the ability to structure data. These solutions must enable innovation by creating the conditions for collecting knowledge, organising the conditions for sharing this knowledge and translating this knowledge (specifications) into applications. Collective knowledge becomes collaborative, thus creating real value, which contributes to competitiveness objectives.

In short, a collaborative intelligence solution must be flexible, both technologically and financially, integrated, and require virtually no change management.

How does a collaborative intelligence solution have to be innovative?

An innovative collaborative intelligence solution has two components: the concept must be innovative and the technology must be innovative.

What is an innovative concept?

The concept must be innovative because it approaches the notion of collaborative (very often approached from the perspective of web 2.0 technologies and social networks) on the premise that the collaborative only makes sense if we know how to model the relationships between individuals in a company or in an ecosystem. Thus, modeling the relationships between individuals means using workflow tools that must be on a collaborative platform (thin client), which itself must integrate BPM, BPA, VoIP technologies.

Collaborative intelligence software publishers must therefore change their paradigm; the ability to model relationships between individuals and to offer business repositories is a prerequisite for the development of the social network.

Innovative technology: to gain a competitive advantage, solutions must be based on Cloud technologies to enable greater flexibility and agility. By offering a solution hosted on the Cloud, collaborative intelligence solutions offer a perfect control of costs, an immediate ROI for their customers and free them from any IT infrastructure. In addition, the use of these technologies must provide both secure and instant access, while enabling near-zero change management.

Collaborative intelligence solutions must also rely on thin client interfaces. This simplifies the provision of the solution and allows customers to access the solution more quickly.

Finally, the architecture of collaborative intelligence solutions must be at odds with what is done on the market today. The solutions must necessarily integrate both functional and sectoral aspects and meet the needs of modeling, execution & control of processes, while managing risks.
