The YellowKorner galleries are honouring the leading photographer Aurélien Villette, with an exhibition from April 11th to June 12th. He presents his work here, which he calls "Spirit of place". As the Venice Biennale soon opens its doors and the list of artists is revealed, Aurélien Villette delivers in this exhibition his own vision of Italy.
L’artist captures spaces in ruins, questioning their meaning and heritage value, testifying to the evolution of a country, a region or a civilization. Here the photographer takes us on a trip to Venice and we discover its abandoned places, between dream and reality, where Venetian erosions reign.
These buildings, built for our needs of existence and disappearing before our eyes, remind us of the fragility of our life on Earth.

In this exceptional exhibition, the play of light, aging materials, architectural perspectives and structures are highlighted and magnified. The omnipresent silence emanates from these photographs an enigmatic atmosphere, questioning the viewer about the past life and spirit of these places.
This concept integrates the analysis of a place in terms of its function and history by looking at its architecture, its geolocation and its positioning between the inside and the outside. Through his camera, the artist seeks to capture the monumentality of a place by offering a vision between dream and reality. Beyond a simple concern for documentation and sustainability, Aurélien Villette is interested in the description and aesthetization of disinherited places.
