Foresight 1- historical foundations : First volume of a series of three syntheses. In it, the bases of foresight: history, evolution, objectives, tools, devices.
In the context of the renewal of foresight under the impetus of local authorities, it seems important to better define its current project, in view of what it has been. What were the conceptions at stake, its focus, currents, objectives, modalities and methods. In short, why has foresight been practised for a good half century, how, with whom?
Taking a historical perspective, this synthesis seeks to answer the question "what is foresight? ». Drawing on the founding writings of the first prospectivists, it looks back at the period when foresight was first invented and then at its evolution in order to understand what needs it met and how it was thought out in the various centres where it took shape and developed, in France and throughout the world. We also look back at the foresight exercises that have made history from yesterday to today, to grasp, through these "milestones", the evolution of concepts, objectives, tools and devices, and to highlight inflections.
This synthesis is the first volume of a series of three documents: the second deals with current issues in foresight, its major challenges; the third characterizes the approach of the Foresight and Public Dialogue Department of Greater Lyon.
