The Centre Pompidou's Ecole Pro and Manifesto launch a training course on Art and the City
À At a time when art and culture occupy a growing place in the making of the city, the Ecole Pro du Centre Pompidou is approaching Manifesto to launch a two-day training course on artistic interventions linked to architecture and urban space. The first sessions will be held on 28 June and 5 July 2019 in the heart of the Centre Pompidou - Paris.
On the programme, two days of inspiration and experimentation - meetings with experts and artists, dialogue in front of works of art - mixing a sensitive and a technical and operational path.
The training is aimed primarily at property developers, property investors and social landlords, architects and town planners, public developers, public or private companies with a built heritage (production site, premises open to the public, offices, etc.).
How can the presence of art contribute to reinventing the relationship to the built and urban environment?
The presence of works of art in public or private buildings, or in the public space, has crossed the centuries. Today, art and culture are regularly called upon to overcome the impasses of the contemporary city. The actors in the city's fabric feel the importance of this, but often lack the tools to inscribe them in an efficient and sustainable manner, and do not always have the keys to understanding the needs of the actors involved, first and foremost the artists. How can these opportunities be transformed into success, from the point of view of the urban operator as well as artists and audiences?
The Centre Pompidou's Ecole Pro is combining its vision with the expertise of Manifesto, the artistic and cultural director of the Grand Paris Express (with José-Manuel Gonçalvès, the Centquatre-Paris and Eva Albarran & Co), producer of the latest artistic commissions for the UGC Group (ex : Claude Lévêque at the UGC Ciné Cité Vélizy, Hector Castells-Matutano at the UGC Gobelins), pilot of the temporary artist residency "L'Orfèvrerie" in Saint-Denis (Quartus), artistic director of the winning teams of Joia Méridia in Nice (Pitch Promotion and Eiffage), of the Lumières Pleyel in Saint-Denis (Sogelym-Dixence), etc.
