Spring break is coming and for those who don't leave the Capital or for those who come as tourists, here is a selection of places and cultural activities for our young people. A selection that may be unusual but for which we thought it was in the era of changing times ... Beautiful discoveries to all!
 
 
INSTITUTE OF THE ARAB WORLD - THE SUEZ CANAL EPIC
 
 
- The Suez Canal Epic - From 6 years old
Visit of the exhibition, followed by a creative workshop to make a storyboard that will tell the different stages of the digging of the Suez Canal. The boards will be treated in black and coloured by the participants. 
 
- Story time: Tales from Egypt - From 4 years old
This weekly program offers young and old alike the opportunity to discover the tales of ancient and contemporary Egypt.
 
NATIONAL MUSEUM OF IMMIGRATION HISTORY
 
 
- My photomontage workshop - From 6 years old
Photos have always been edited, cut out, reassembled and made up, and the Gypsy World exhibition shows it well. In the workshop, photographs are made by playing with pencil, chisel and glue to learn not to believe everything the images tell us.
 
- A photo painted with scissors - From 6 years old
After an observation of the photographs in the exhibition Monde tsiganes, vivier de mise en scène et de postures, Claire Glorieux proposes to create panoramas in which imaginary characters cut out of the landscapes wander around, share space and intersect until they form a work in itself between photography, drawing and painting.
 
- Le carnet du visiteur voyageur - From 6 years old
Photographs in a document are common. Passport, transport card, school notebook... But how far can you colour, decorate, transform your notebook? In this workshop you will inaugurate your notebook by pasting your photo, then by taking inspiration from the official documents whose codes you will divert, you will make a unique object that looks like no one else's. 
 
TROPICAL AQUARIUM
 
 
- 1,2,3 clown - 3 to 5 years old
Do you know the famous clown fish and why it is called that? Come and discover it at the Aquarium as well as another clown in the tanks. Then it's time to create from the silhouettes of these famous colourful fish.
 
- Treasure Hunt - From 6 years old
The Tropical Aquarium hides a treasure within: will you be able to pass the tests and find it? It is by observing the fish, discovering the thousand riches contained in the Aquarium's fauna and flora that you will get out of it, provided you understand that the treasure is less the object you are looking for than the pleasure of finding it together.
 
CENTRE POMPIDOU - Laterna Magica 
 
 
. Exhibitions, workshops, film screenings and surprise encounters - All audiences
To celebrate the launch of the festival Laterna Magica, The Centre Pompidou offers a creative weekend for families on 14 and 15 April: During these two days, the Piazza will be transformed into a dance score, the Brancusi workshop will vibrate with "cock-a-doodle-doo" thanks to animated sculptures, and tours of the museum will invite you to see the works in a different way, in drawings or in movement... There will also be a "Diorama" workshop at La Fabrique, proposed by the authors-illustrators Anouck Boisrobert and Louis Rigaud, and a workshop on the magic lantern at Studio 13/16. Les Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 April from 14  h to 18  h.
 
. " The  Impromptu "  on May 6, which offers families a free and original exploration of the Centre, and of course the exhibition-workshop "A five-year-old would do the same." by Claude Closky, at the Children's Gallery.

 
CERNUSCHI MUSEUM - EXHIBITION PERFUMS OF CHINA - The cultivation of incense in the time of the emperors
 
 
- Sensory and olfactory visit - From 3 years old
Sensory visit and olfactory tale for the youngest to discover the exhibition in a playful way.
 
- Visits animations - 4/6 years old
The mysterious mountain, Encountering the fantastic bestiary, Scented mists, Flower fan, Floral mosaic: drawing, making, colouring, folding, so many practices to approach different themes of the exhibition in a creative way.
 
- Activities - 6/9 years
A fragrant fan, Materials in a trend book, Chinese architecture invite teens to sharpen their gaze. Shapes and decors, materials and techniques inspire them for personal and artistic interpretations.
 
- Workshop cycle - 12/16 years
Decorative art and paintings by scholars: drawing inspiration from the works in the exhibition, the teenagers are introduced to the art of stamping and painting on different media to then decorate a tote bag, a porcelain bowl ... animated by the Korean artist and visual artist Hyun Jeung.

HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL
 
 
- Workshop-contempt around the book L'Ourson de Fred - 9 to 12 years old
The storyteller invites children to discover the true story of a woolen teddy bear. Through the eyes of this teddy bear, we discover the journey of Fred, a young Jewish child from Delft who miraculously manages to escape roundups and deportations. Following this story, the participants are invited to present an object that is dear to them and to imagine how this object could also speak up and tell a particular memory.
 
- Reading tour in the Marais for families - From 9 years old
 Through a walk in the Marais and accompanied by a booklet for children, families discover the Jewish presence in the historic heart of Paris. Synagogues, commemorative plaques, traditional shops from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day, participants follow the upheavals and changes in Pletzl, the Jewish quarter of Paris. At the bend in the street or in a garden, musical readings will accompany this discovery.
 
MUSEUM OF MAN - NEANDERTHAL L'EXPO
 
 
- Workshop "Excavation bins" - From 7 years old
The children, equipped with small excavation equipment, explore a land inhabited by our prehistoric ancestors, learn about the gestures of excavation and carry out the survey and interpretation, like archaeologists.
 
- My animated science" workshop - From 7 years old
Discover Prehistory in a playful way! Based on short animated films in connection with the Neanderthal exhibition, children and adults explore the history and evolution of mankind in a playful way.
  
NATIONAL COSTUME CENTRE
 
 
- Magic Book" workshop - From 7 years old
With the wave of a magic wand, the children create a fairy-tale pop-up book.
 
- Children's visit - 7 to 12 years old
This active discovery tour is suitable for children from 7 to 12 years old. It plunges them into the magical world of the stage where the costumes play the leading roles.
 
- Workshop " L'envol des sorcières " - From 4 years old
During this workshop, children will be able to become real wizards by making a magic broom using different fabrics and papers, to fly away to beautiful adventures!
 
- Costumed visit - 7 to 12 years old
This visit allows children to discover the museum in a different way and to explore the exhibition dressed in costumes. A playful moment not to be missed!
 
- Storytelling tour - 4 to 8 years
Every Wednesday, at 4 pm. During this playful discovery of the exhibition through the reading of a short story, children will be able to let their imagination run free. At the end of the visit a small object to take home will be made!
 
- Family workshop visit - From 4 years old
An interactive tour followed by an artistic practice workshop to learn and discover the fascinating world of stage and costumes. The workshop allows you to try your hand at the costume designer's job: props, costume elements...
 
- Mad Hatter" workshop - From 7 years old
In this workshop, children will take on the role of an emblematic character from the tale "Alice in Wonderland" by making a top hat to transform themselves into a mad hatter!
 
- Valet de coeur, valet de pique" workshop - From 4 years old
With this workshop, will be able to become one of the guards of "Alice in Wonderland" by making a costume on the model of the "playing cards" of Alice in Wonderland.

. Captain Future and the Supernature - From 3 years old
First, there's exposition : Captain Future and the Supernature brings together digital works of art that plunge us into another universe, that of a transfigured nature. Cybernetic links, bioluminescent flowers, sound foam, robot jellyfish... So many dreamlike creatures from the imagination of artists, but that technology makes us present and real.
This exciting tour is only a small part of the programme " famille " at the Gaîté-Lyrique : also note the many workshops (" Fabrique ta fleur aux superpouvoirs ", for parents and children, on 18 avril ; " Compose ta jungle sonore ", on 12 May, as well as on 2 and 9 June) and the concerts, parades, performances and other great experiences for the whole family.

On the occasion of its brand new exhibition Enfers et fantômes d'Asie, the musée du quai Branly-Jacques-Chirac offers a special visit for teenagers: get ready to meet yokaïs, bakenoko and other fantastic and hungry creatures... From 14 to 18 April every day except Monday...

. Artists and robots - From 11 years old
The new exhibition at the Grand Palais, Artists & Robots, explores the frontiers of art and science: it brings together works (paintings, sculptures, mobiles, immersive works, films...) whose common feature is that they were produced by robots or intelligence programs artificielle !
As a bonus, there are a few events not to be missed at manquer : conferences on Wednesday, a family day on Sunday, May 6 (with the performance of a dancer and a robot), and a whole program of films related to the subject, starting on Sunday, July 1 with Metropolis.
And note that the exhibition is free of charge for 16-25 year olds at night (from 19 h to 22 h) on Wednesdays May 2nd, June 6th and July 4th.

The exhibition starts off very strong with the Chamber of Ames : those who enter it look like they are growing up or from rapetisser !
The new Exploradome exhibitionIllusionsoffers many other strange visions: faces that seem calm or furious depending on the distance, glass tubes that disappear once immersed in a liquid, a portrait in hollow that we see in relief...
In addition to optical games, the course also offers acoustic or tactile illusions - all funny traps for our poor brains.
To deepen the visit, think about the " Ateliexpos ", guided tours followed by a creative workshop (making an optical toy, light painting...), to be lived in family.

CITES SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY
 
 
. Animation " Together against fire " - From 5 years old / Free access
As part of the new "Fire" exhibition (10 April 2018 - 6 January 2019), the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie is joining forces with the French Federation of Fire Professions (FFMI). A mobile unit "Ensemble contre le feu" (Together against fire), installed on the northern forecourt of the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie, invites young and old alike to take part in interactive workshops on fire risks. Evacuating a smoky room, observing the movement of gases, extinguishing a deep fryer fire...! The FFMI trainers invite the public to experiment these phenomena and to learn the right gestures and behaviours to better react in case of fire.
Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 April 2018; Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 April 2018, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Continuous. Duration: 40 minutes.
 
. Workshop without parents " Percussions & frictions... The orchestra of fire ! "From 8 to 12 years old
With the ArkéoMédia association
Accompanied by a mediator, the children attend demonstrations of two prehistoric techniques of fire lighting, by percussion and friction. In a second step, they experiment with the technique of friction fire ignition.

This spring, new challenges are once again being offered to 6-14 year olds and families. To learn how to build a musical instrument, build a satellite and understand how it works, participate in the survey "Le mystère de la Villette" (The Mystery of the Little Girl)...

Since March 13, 2018, the Palais de la découverte has been enriched with a new "Computer and Digital Sciences" area.
Computer science and numerical sciences are fully integrated into our daily lives, from sending an email to interacting with robots to calculating weather forecasts. The understanding of these sciences is therefore a major challenge to make the world we live in intelligible. What is a computer code? How does information circulate on the Internet? How can we simulate a natural phenomenon on a machine to study it? So many questions that this new permanent space in the Palais de la découverte answers.
 
. "1 researcher, 1 manip": Robots that learn - From 7 years old
March 21 to May 13, 2018  
During the event " 1 chercheur.e, 1 manip ", Stéphane Doncieux from theInstitute for Intelligent Systems and Robotics and her team present research aimed at equipping robots with child-inspired learning abilities. Researchers are designing algorithms that allow the robot to learn to perform tasks in a variety of environments. The algorithms developed alternate phases of interaction with the environment and phases of analysis or restructuring similar to sleep.
