What modernity for Paris? Interview with Jean-Louis Missika

Start

"The city is changing. Recent decades have been marked by profound changes that particularly affect cities: the emergence of new technologies that are revolutionising telecommunications and transport, climate and environmental risks, changes in working patterns, changes in social and family life, migratory flows, changes in the economic world...". This is how Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, approaches her modernisation project for Paris 2014-2020. A very concrete project with 26 proposals listed in a small book "Paris qui ose".

Urban transformations that must involve urban agriculture, intelligent networks, waste reuse, etc. What will the modernisation policy of Paris and the "Greater Paris" consist of, what about the Paris Seine axis, what future for the Triangle Tower? Meeting with Jean-Louis Missika, in his office at the Paris City Hall. Historical office since it was Georges Clémenceau's, where the ornaments are those of the sure values of official art and classical themes. It was the time of the triumph of allegory exalting the Republic, the reign of science and mechanics, thought and knowledge, and Paris with its festivals, monuments, surroundings and trades, was amply glorified there. A sign?!

Paris is growing, Paris is on the move, Paris is innovating... This is precisely the City's innovation policy that Jean-Louis Missika was in charge of before April 2014, let's talk about it!
