The French Institute of Design unveils the winners of the last Janus session

Start

Since 1953 and throughout the year, Janus jury members have been rewarding excellence through collaborative approaches to design innovation. The Janus is the embodiment of the credo "Living better together" and rewards companies that choose to make a lasting contribution to the design of innovative products, spaces and services for the benefit of users. An observation for this last session in 2014? Connected objects and services are strongly represented, with four Janus awards out of twelve. In total for 2014, eleven companies will have been labelled for their connected achievements.

"The December sessions of the Janus of Industry and Commerce once again provided many answers to the questions that companies are asking themselves. How do you make a customer want to wear his connected watch every day? What changes can be made to a fire intervention vehicle to optimise the firefighters' mission? What kind of navigation bridge for the sailor of 2030? How can we enhance the value of traditional professions in mass retailing? Which solution to bring tailor-made sewing within the reach of the greatest number of people? These are all questions that have only one aim: to put the company's innovative skills at the service of end users, by providing them with solutions that are thought out upstream, adapted and tailored to their needs and expectations as closely as possible. The role of design, in short! " Anne-Marie Sargueil, President of the Institut Français du Design.

A rich and diversified December prize list, as the jury awarded twelve Janus labels :
- 5 for Industry,
- 2 for Components & Materials,
- 1 for the City,
- 1 for the Prospective,
- 3 for Commerce.
