Coax Festival: Insane music for an all-nighter

Start
Here we go again for the COAX collective! On April 13th, COAX organizes a new daring event at Le Générateur in Gentilly. On the program, a whole night: more than 40 musicians and performers will invest the 400m2 of the Generator, 10 hours of experimental music, free-jazz, rock, electro and noise, accompanied by performances, projections, choreography and dance. A new sound and choreographic experience until the early hours of the morning. (20h-6h).

Coopérative of musicians created in 2008, COAX wants to be the echo of this new generation of DIY and "jack-of-all-trades" that reinvents the ways of creating. Initially articulated around free and improvised music, the collective now brings together projects with multiple sensibilities ranging from free jazz to electronic music, through rock, noise music, sound arts and contemporary music.
Coax questions the formal situation of the concert and develops musical performances at the crossroads of aesthetics and artistic disciplines, proposing unique encounters around a common denominator: spontaneity and intensity.
Today, the collective is focused on experimental and performative music, with about fifteen musicians and as many affiliated projects, and works for the diffusion, organization and production of events (festivals, parties, tours, curation), but also for the creation of new networks, the development of cultural actions and the production of records (Coax Records). COAX has been labelled "Compagnie Nationale" since 2016.

TRIBALISM for a multidimensional sound and choreographic journey

As part of the new creation "Tribalism"the Coax Collective is organizing its first "Coax Night" for a night of concerts on the April 13th (from 8pm to 6am), sound, video and choreographic performances at the Générateur in Gentilly.
"Tribalism" is a shared space, where musicians, dancers and spectators are on the same floor, listening to the same breath. A crossing that is experienced in the invention of a trance that never stops looking for itself through repetition, saturation, disappearance or lack, through illusion or mirage... So many phenomena in which the question of the group is raised.

On the program, more than 40 musicians and performers will invest the 400m2 of the Generator, 10 hours of experimental music, free-jazz, rock, electro and noise, accompanied by performances, projections, choreography and dance.

This is a musical and choreographic creation written by Yann Joussein and choreographed by Claire Malchrowicz, formed by 7 musicians and 4 dancers, presented in a scenography and staging other than those of a usual concert. It is a multidimensional concert format deployed throughout the space of the venue and in which the audience can have different points of view.
The piece is a trance-based sonic and choreographic journey, inspired by Pygmy, Gnawa or Tuareg rhythms as well as the repetitive music of Steve Reich or Terry Riley.
