Frugal innovation at the service of animals

Start

Frugal innovation: a Turkish machine that feeds stray doggies by recycling bottles. Here is a solidarity innovation at the service of man's best friend!

Ahe machine imagined by Pugedon, a Turkish company, links creativity and solidarity: a frugal innovation with a circular economy of means.

The first prototypes were used in the city of Istanbul, Turkey. It works as a "eureka": the machine has two dog bowls (one for food, the other for water). People coming to throw away their plastic bottles are invited to empty them into the machine. The water is collected and reused to water the street dogs. As soon as a plastic bottle is thrown into the machine, a ration of kibble is poured into the other feeder.
The whole system works with sensors. Thanks to them, the machine knows when it should dispense water or kibble for the animals.

The other great advantage of this concept is in line with the frugal innovations (doing more with less): the company offers a "stand-alone" machine that does not involve any expenses for the city: on the one hand, the water is recovered from the bottles. On the one hand, water is recovered from the bottles. On the other hand, half of the bottles recovered is enough to cover the cost of food.
