Hydrocity: a major innovation in non-potable water management

Start

Labelled by the Novosphere in June 2012, the Hydrocity® project, now patented, was presented at the 14th Crossroads of Local Water Management, on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 January 2013 in Rennes. This support rewards a rainwater management concept based on the complementarity of several professions. Hydrocity® is a complete solution allowing the use of recycled water wherever drinking water is not required.

Numerous economic advantages, environmental benefits... choose Hydrocity® is part of an innovative vision of water and wastewater management. preservation of the resource. Thinking about water differently means having a global approach to the cycle. water upstream of the project. By recovering rainwater and grey water, valorizing and reusing it on site, the non-food and non-body needs of the users. In addition, the calories contained in grey water are recovered to the production of domestic hot water.
Hydrocity® was born from a group of Breton professionals, specialists in the field of water management. Multiple and complementary skills have been combined to optimize the entire non-potable water management chain, from the study of the project, until its completion and maintenance.

Innovation

Currently, drinking water is consumed for all purposes, most of which do not require potable water quality. Similarly, water from rainwater and grey water treatment, which represents a large volume, is not or only very little used. To remedy this problem, Hydrocity® proposes a completely systemic approach to water management, including studies, implementation and maintenance, based on the complementary nature of each company involved. Tomorrow, thanks to this process, recycled water will be used wherever drinking water is not needed.

The main innovation is to have been able to combine all the necessary skills to constitute a complete offer allowing to optimize the management and valorization of rainwater from waterproofed surfaces and roofs, grey water and black water. The project is positioned upstream of development projects and has solid technical and economic qualities.

Hydrocity® in the Novosphere

This initiative is part of the Rennes the Novosphere in several ways. It crosses several fields of expertise, from engineering and design departments to designers and installers of water treatment equipment. Its mode of operation brings together several players in a participative mode. The social utility of the project has several dimensions: savings for individuals ( up to 50% of water expenditure), for the community (cost of sanitation) and a major environmental issue (reduction of sanitation facilities, creation of wetlands in particular). Through all these qualities, the concept can contribute to the influence of the Rennes area, even beyond the borders of France.
