Yesterday, Thursday 26 September 2013, at the Café Monde et Médias Place de la République in Paris 10ème, took place the launch party of the Social Good Labthe first incubator dedicated to technologically innovative social enterprises, born from a partnership between Paris Incubateurs and the Comptoir de l'Innovation. This event is an opportunity to present the eight winners selected to join the incubator, in the presence of Nicolas Hazard, President of the Comptoir de l'Innovation and Anne Gousset, Director of Paris Incubateurs.

What is the Social Good Lab?

The Social Good Lab is a technology incubator with a strong social impact launched on March 13, 2010. Its objective is to bring together social entrepreneurship and technological innovation in order to address social and environmental issues. By associating Social Innovation and Technological Innovation, this incubator aims to promote the emergence of innovative services resulting from new technologies.

Located in the Paris Innovation Masséna building (13ème), the mission of this incubator is to support promising companies in the start-up and take-off phase for one year. Paris Incubateurs provides a range of support services while the Comptoir de l'Innovation mobilizes its experts to advise and train start-ups in the specifics of social entrepreneurship. This initiative is also supported by the City of Paris and BPI France through the Paris Innovation Amorçage fund.

Pauline Véron, Deputy Mayor of Paris, in charge of the social and solidarity economy, welcomes the "creation of this new place dedicated to the spirit of initiative and solidarity. This partnership is part of a voluntarist policy favouring the emergence and development of an inclusive and responsible economy. »

Jean-Louis Missika, deputy in charge of innovation, research and universities, is delighted with "this promising rapprochement between technological know-how and social innovation, which will lead to projects that will create jobs and change uses".

Who are the big winners?

Promising, innovative and dedicated to a social and/or environmental cause, here is an exclusive presentation of the eight start-ups selected to join the incubator:

Planet Sign Language / Egonocast The project was born out of a partnership between sign language interpreting professionals (Planète Langue des Signes) and engineers specialising in the design of multimedia software (Egonocast). The aim of this project is to set up an on-demand translation service for audiovisual content in sign language (with or without the possibility of having the interpreter appear on the screen) and thus enable 10% deaf and hard of hearing French speakers to access the same television information as everyone else.

Arizuka This start-up has designed a participatory financing platform in donation for donation that provides secure fundraising and communication solutions to associations developing social, economic or environmental innovation projects.

Cine Apps: this young company has developed a portal of Smart Glasses and Smartphones applications for digital cinema. In addition to "on click" applications for sound reinforcement, audio description and personalised subtitles, this interface will offer people with sensory impairments numerous services from the pre-session (last-minute reservations, alert at the start of the session, audio guide, etc.) to the post-session (timetables and information on public transport, etc.).

Eqosphere : this collaborative web platform, specialist in the management of end-of-life products, is presented as an intelligent interface on mobile phones to facilitate the redistribution of waste, stocks or unsold products to the associative environment. This initiative contributes directly to the reduction of food and non-food waste.

Social Club This social enterprise aims to design and develop a search engine without internet access via a voice telephone server that automatically processes the voice, analyzes the request and redirects the beneficiary to the most appropriate people to answer it. The aim here is to address the problem of the digital divide in France and around the world.

Power:On This start-up has developed software capable of simulating the operation of hybrid power generation systems (solar photovoltaic, batteries and diesel generator) to determine which configuration will produce the cheapest electricity in a given situation. Power:The aim is to bring sustainable and innovative solutions for access to electricity to isolated communities in developing countries.

MicroDON based on the principle of "onboard generosity", microDON aims to make donations accessible to all by grafting them onto everyday transactions. In particular, the start-up offers a rounding service at the checkout (in partnership with Franprix) giving customers the possibility of rounding the amount of their basket at the checkout, a monetary margin that will be totally donated to an association.
