Physikron, a Genopole®-labeled Mass Spectrometry company, announces that Sanofi is using its patented technology and integrating it into its analytical processes. This major innovation makes it possible, without any change in equipment or hardware, to significantly increase the number of proteins identified (up to +80%) compared to a standard proteomics analysis.

Mass spectrometry is a physical analytical technique for detecting and identifying molecules of interest by measuring their mass and characterizing their chemical structure. Its principle lies in the gas phase separation of charged molecules (ions) according to their mass/charge ratio (m/z). It is based on the coupling of a plasma torch generating ions and a quadrupole mass spectrometer which separates these ions by mass. It is used in practically all scientific fields: physics, astrophysics, gas-phase chemistry, organic chemistry, assays, biology, medicine.

Physikron has developed a tandem mass spectrometry (MS-MS) technology, based on patented algorithms, which is compatible with existing high-resolution MS-MS instruments (Thermo Fisher Orbitrap, Bruker FTICR and Q-TOF), Q-TOF from Agilent and Triple TOF from AB Sciex) and which significantly improves the performance of analyses of complex biological mixtures, in the field of proteomics, biomarker identification or post-translational modifications (PTM).

Thanks to this innovation, a single MS-MS spectrum acquired from multiplexed data can be deconvolved into multiple MS-MS spectra. Physikron's technology brings significant improvements in several important parameters for users:

- Increase in the number of proteins identified and in the intensity dynamics of sequenced proteins,

- Significant increase in throughput (the same result can be obtained with compression of the analysis time),

- Reduced sample consumption (the same number of sequences can be obtained with fewer sample injections),
