Company mobility plan: a new guide to the keys to success

Start
The Climate Action Network, in partnership with ADEME and CCI France - the national establishment of the network of chambers of commerce and industry - is publishing an educational guide giving companies the keys to successfully implement their mobility plan, for the benefit of their business, their employees and the climate.

Work as the primary reason for travel

In France, one out of every two trips is related to professional activity. The home-work trip alone represents one trip in four and is made by car in 70% of cases. As for the transport of goods, the overwhelming majority is carried out on the road and can constitute up to 20% of traffic in large conurbations.
However, road transport generates significant costs: greenhouse gas emissions, air and noise pollution, accidents, congestion, high public and private expenditure, etc.
This therefore calls for changes from all actors involved, to reduce road traffic.

The mobility plan is an asset for the staff, the company and the community.

The widespread implementation of ambitious mobility plans can have a decisive impact on behavioural change by promoting alternative modes of transport to the private car. Numerous solutions can be proposed: payment of public transport season tickets, introduction of a bicycle mileage allowance as an incentive, telecommuting, car-sharing platforms, car-sharing fleets, etc.
The changes allowed by the mobility plan have a positive impact on the health and well-being of employees.
A company can derive multiple economic benefits from good mobility management for its staff, but also for its customers, service providers and suppliers: cost reductions, improved productivity, a strengthened reputation and cooperation with neighbouring companies and local authorities.

The "Booster de Mobilité Active" (BMA) scheme, developed by the Ille-et-Vilaine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has shown that the organisation of mobility is at the heart of a company's operations and its economic and social performance. Actively managing mobility is a lever for development and performance that makes it possible to combine greater openness to markets and the reduction of travel needs.
So, "Mobility plans help to rationalize the travel of companies and their employees while limiting the environmental impact. says Pierre Goguet, President of CCI France. "And, by pooling through inter-company mobility plans, the benefits will be multiplied. »

The Climate Action Network's guide "Un Plan de Mobilité dans mon Entreprise" (A Mobility Plan in my Company), produced with the collaboration of several member associations - FNE, FUB, FNAUT, WWF France, CLER - and Cerema, is aimed at managers of companies of all sizes, but also at employees, their representatives and communities. It will provide them with methodological guidelines, advice and examples to support them in the implementation of their mobility plan.
